Food 1.0 - Food 3.0
Food 1.0: Eating for survival. There are still parts of the world where eating for survival exists.
Food 2.0: Dominant in most of the developed world today: The principal organizing feature of food today is commerce. Large food companies control much of today’s food production. Most of us are able to access food that is grown or manufactured on different continents or in vastly different parts of the country.
Unfortunately, this purely commercial focus has led to some food that is loaded with added sugars, chemicals, pesticides, hormones, antibiotics and trans fats. Much of this food is highly processed with ingredient labels that are difficult to understand.
Food 3.0: The central organizing force around Food 3.0 is healthy food for a healthy life and a sustainable planet. It is a growing awareness that nutritious, simplified food that is ethically sourced can lead to a healthier and happier life.
